As part of the campaign “Let’s Protect Each Other!” launched by the Coordination Center of Azerbaijani Volunteers (AKƏM) volunteers have started working for the health of our society in various areas during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in cities and regions of the country, including 12 districts of Baku.
As reported, the aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness of social distance and other guidelines in public places and to demonstrate support to both our state and our citizens working against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with the help of Azerbaijani volunteers.
During the first day of the campaign, volunteers carried out more awareness-raising activities, provided medical masks and gloves to people walking on the streets without masks, informed them about the importance of wearing masks and how to use them, and improved social distance in crowded places (banks, post offices, shops, etc.). They disinfected the payment terminals in the shops and the hands of those who entered the facilities. At the same time, residents were urged not to leave the house unnecessarily and to pay attention to the rules recommended by the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers and the World Health Organization. In their example, the volunteers demonstrated the importance of maintaining social distance.
It should be noted that the Coordination Center of Azerbaijani Volunteers was created in 27th March of 2020 in order to support the government to prevent new risks of Covid-19 with the participation of “ASAN Volunteers” organization, “Regional Development” Public Union, “One Volunteer” Student Cooperation Public Union, “Volunteer DOST” Program, “Agrarian Development Volunteers” Public Union, “Transportation Volunteers” Program, “Formula 1 Volunteers”, “Migration Volunteers” Public Union , “Customs Volunteers” Team, “Tourism Volunteers” Organization, “Eco-Volunteers” group, “AFFA and EURO 2020 Volunteers” Program and “Young Volunteers” Movement. The work of the Center is coordinated by the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Considering the slogan of “We are strong together” by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as their priority Coordination Center of Azerbaijani Volunteers mobilized many volunteers almost in all regions and cities of the country. To date, thousands of volunteers have participated in the “Let’s protect our elders!”, “Volunteer Neighbor” and “Volunteer Donor” actions organized by the Coordination Center of Azerbaijani Volunteers (AKƏM).
