Youth Policy

Azerbaijani youth has always implemented all their duties responsibly and has been active in all the processes occurring in the country.

Ensuring more active participation of young people in the socio-economic, scientific, cultural, educational and other fields of the Republic of Azerbaijan requires a new level of work. Thus, favorable conditions for broader usage of the youth’s innovative potential have been created to meet the public interest and increase the competitiveness of Azerbaijani economy.

The young people have always been in the center of attention after the national leader Heydar Aliyev came to power. The legal normative framework for the youth policy and an entity in charge of its implementation - Ministry of Youth and Sports have been created. The connection among different governmental agencies and the cooperation with international organizations to solve the problems of youth have been initiated. Large-scale work has been done for ensuring the health, education, employment and social protection of the young segment of Azerbaijani society. To exemplify this, we might mention the 2nd of February which is celebrated as National Youth Day every year in Azerbaijan. Moreover, Youth Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan was created.

As the results of the state programs approved by the decrees of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2005 and 2011, priority sectors of the youth policy have been positively affected, and the programs have been successfully implemented. Especially, the advancement has been achieved in the implementation of youth projects and programs as well as in youth employment and social activeness.

The development of youth is considered as one of the most important components of social policy in Azerbaijan, and a special attention will continue to be given to young people according to the decree of the President on “The Development Strategy of Azerbaijani Youth for 2015-2025”.
