For a long time, Azerbaijan has had a tradition of doing good on the day of Ashura and giving blood to sick people in need.
This year, on Ashura Day, the Ministry of Health and the Caucasian Muslims Office organized voluntary blood donation campaigns to help patients in need of blood.
Unlike the previous days of Ashura, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the world, those who want to donate blood are directed not to mosques, but to the branches of the Central Blood Bank in the capital and regions.
Azerbaijani volunteers were not left out of this noble action. In Baku, Ganja and Mingachevir, volunteers both acted as donors and supported the referral of donors approaching the Blood Bank, answering their questions and at the same time ensuring the protection of social distance.
We remind that in accordance with the Presidential Decree declaring 2020 the “Year of Volunteerism”, young people involved in volunteer activities, which became more widespread in the country, acted in a coordinated manner during the pandemic and repeatedly participated in blood donation campaigns for people in need.
